How did Firoz Khan turn from a hero to a dreaded villain? His style and royal appearance made him the life of Bollywood

Entertainment News Desk – Today, September 25, is the birthday of the famous actor-director and producer of his time, Firoz Khan. The famous star of the 70s, Firoz Khan was considered a style icon of Bollywood. Till date, no one has been able to compete with his style. He has worked in more than 60 films. He started his career as a hero, but later when he appeared in the role of a villain, he brought life into it.

Firoz Khan was born on 25 September 1939 in a Pathan family in Bangalore. His father was of Afghan origin and mother of Iranian origin. He came to Mumbai to make a name in the world of acting and became famous in a few years. Firoz Khan made his acting debut in the 1959 film ‘Didi’. Firoz Khan always wanted to become a style icon. Later his wish was fulfilled. On hearing the name of Firoz Khan, the thought of a smart-handsome face, a person wearing suit-boot, jacket and cap on the head comes to mind. His royal style ruled Bollywood for years. Firoz Khan was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for the film ‘Aadmi Aur Insaan’ released in the year 1969. After this, he did many superhit films like ‘Dharmatma’ and ‘Mela’. He also turned to direction.

At the beginning of his career, Firoz Khan played supporting roles in films for a few years. He got special recognition after the film ‘Unche Log’ released in 1965. After this, he soon established himself as an actor, director and producer through films like Safar (1970), Apraad (1972), Khote Sikkey (1974), Dharmatma (1975), Qurbani (1980), Janbaaz (1986) and Yalgaar (1992).

The film ‘Qurbani’ released in the year 1980 was one of the most successful films of his career. With this, he also made his mark in the world of direction. In the last phase of his career, he played the role of a villain in many films. He was last seen in Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Welcome’ in the year 2007. In this film, he won a lot of applause from the audience by playing the role of underworld don RDX. Firoz Khan died on 27 April 2009 due to lung cancer. He breathed his last at his farmhouse in Bangalore.
