Sharmila had a love marriage with cricketer Tiger Pataudi, but despite this, a unique condition was kept in their marriage certificate. In an interview given to Kapil Sibal, the actress had revealed, ‘I don’t think I am qualified to talk about anything on cricket. It was part of my marriage contract that you would never discuss cricket. Mansoor will not talk about films. Sharmila and Tiger did not know much about each other’s field. That’s why they never wanted to talk about it. Both of them got married on this condition.

Talking about her first meeting with Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Sharmila recently told Twinkle Khanna, ‘I met him at a cricket party and he had come back from England… It was the first time that We met. I was going to Nainital for work and when he scored his double century I was in Delhi, so we had exchanged telephone numbers in Kolkata so I called his house and left a message which read, ‘Awesome congratulations.’
Sharmila further told that when both of them met for the first time over coffee, during the conversation she liked Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi very much. After two years of engagement, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila decided that it was the right time to get married and they got married.
