Sumrai Tete (English: Sumrai Tete, born November 15, 1979) has been a member of the India women’s national hockey team. She was a member of the Indian national hockey team that won the gold medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. In the year 2017, Sumrai Tete was awarded the prestigious Dhyan Chand Award by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for his achievements and contribution to field hockey in India. Sumrai Tete is the brand ambassador of hockey in her state Jharkhand.
Sumrai Tete, who has played more than 100 international matches, is the first female hockey player from the state to be honored with the Dhyan Chand Award. Sumrai Tete, who has also been the assistant coach of the Indian women’s hockey team, is currently working in S.P. She is also the coach of the Railways women’s hockey team. Earlier, Jharkhand’s hockey player and Olympian Silvanus Dungdung has been honored with the Major Dhyan Chand Award. Silvanus is the state sports coordinator in the directorate’s organization SHAH.[1]

The sports life of Sumrai Tete, who trains at Bariatu Girls Hockey Center, Ranchi, is full of achievements-
Gold at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games. Bronze at the 2002 Johannesburg Champions Trophy. Gold at the 2003 Singapore MIA Hockey Championships. Gold at the 2003 Hyderabad Afro-Asian Games. Won gold in 2004 New Delhi Asia Cup.
Sumrai Tete, a dynamic left half player, joined the Indian senior team in 1996 on the basis of her excellent game.
Sumrai Tete’s journey ended in 2006. At that time Sumrai was also the captain of the team. In 2006 itself, India had won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games held in Australia. Apart from this, Sumrai Tete also trained the Indian Senior Women’s Team as well as Indian Railways.
