Former Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy is celebrating his 52nd birthday today. YS Jaganmohan Reddy is the son of late Congress leader YSR Reddy.
Let us tell you that after the death of the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash in 2009, the political activism of YS Jaganmohan Reddy has started being seen amidst the political upheaval in the politics of Andhra Pradesh. He formed his own party in 2011 amid differences with the national leadership of the Congress.
The YSR Congress Party led by Jaganmohan Reddy came to power in the state in 2019. Reddy became MP from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency in 2009. YS Jaganmohan Reddy was born on 21 December 1972 in Pulivendula village in Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh. YS Jaganmohan Reddy did his schooling from Hyderabad Public School. After this he completed his graduation from Nizam College.
As the then Leader of Opposition in the Assembly and President of the YSR Congress Party, Reddy conducted his 3,000 km long padayatra, called Praja Sankalp Yatra, in Idupulapaya in Kadapa district in November 2017. During his time with YSR Congress Party he visited 125 assembly constituencies across the state in 430 days and ended his journey on 9 January 2019.
In the national and state elections held in April and May in 2019, the YSR Congress Party won the elections and won 151 of the total 175 assembly seats and 22 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh. YS took oath as Chief Minister on 30 May 2019. Many important schemes were launched in the state during his tenure. These schemes include welfare schemes like Jagannath Amma Vodi and Navaratnalu. Jagannatha Amma Vodi provides financial assistance to mothers or parents living below the poverty line to educate their children.
In the Lok Sabha elections held in Andhra Pradesh this year, TDP won 16 Lok Sabha seats, BJP won three and Jana Sena won two seats. Of the 25 Lok Sabha seats, the NDA won 21, while the YSRCP could win only four. At the same time, in the assembly elections, TDP got 135 seats, Janasena got 21 seats and BJP got eight seats. YSRCP got only 11 seats. State CMYS Jagan Mohan Reddy had to resign after the assembly election results.
