Indira Raje or ‘Indira Devi’ (English: Indira Raje, born 19 February, 1892; death- 6 September 1968) was the princess of Baroda. His father was Sayaji Gaikwad and mother Maharani Chimney Bai.
Indira Raje was married to Rajkumar Jitendra Narayan of Cooch Behar. From whom she met in Delhi court. He broke his engagement with Maharaja Madhorao Scindia of Gwalior to marry Jitendra Narayan. He took this bold step at the age of 18.[1]
After breaking the engagement, Indira Raje’s parents gave her permission to leave India and go to London and marry Jitendra Narayan. Indira Raje faced many tragedies in her life. Maharani Gayatri Devi was the daughter of her. Indira Raje spent the last time of her life in Mumbai. Indira Raje died on 6 September 1968.
