Irrfan Khan was born on 7 January 1967 in a Muslim Pathan family in Jaipur. His full name was Sahabzade Irfan Ali Khan. Irfan’s childhood was spent in Tonk and Rajasthan. I also completed my schooling from there. His father was a tire trader. Interestingly, despite being from a Pathan family, the actor was a vegetarian since childhood. Because of this, his father always teased him by saying that he was born a Brahmin in a Pathan family.
Irrfan Khan started his career with television serials. In his early days he appeared in serials like Chanakya, Bharat Ek Khoj, Chandrakanta. After this, he entered the big screen in the year 1988 with the film ‘Salaam Bombay’ and worked in many memorable films. Irrfan is always known for playing different characters. In his 32 year career, Irrfan has done some films which proved to be milestones. Irrfan Khan received the Filmfare Award for ‘Best Villain’ that year for the film ‘Haasil’. After this, Irrfan worked in great films like ‘Lunchbox’, ‘Gunday’, ‘Haider’, ‘Piku’ and ‘Hindi Medium’. Irrfan Khan was honored with the National Award for the film ‘Paan Singh Tomar’. In 2011, he was honored with Padmashree by the Government of India.
Irrfan Khan married NSD friend Sutapa Sikdar on 23 February 1995. Sutapa always stood by Irfan during his struggling days. The actor’s wife Sutapa has written films like Supari and Shabd. It is said that when Irrfan decided to marry Sutapa, he was even ready to change his religion for her.
Actor Irrfan Khan, who left his mark from Bollywood to Hollywood, left this world on 29 April 2020. He was suffering from cancer. Even today he is remembered in the industry for his strong acting.
