J Om Prakash was a big name as a filmmaker. There was a time when his name was very famous. J Om Prakash was another name of success in the film industry. Born on 24 January 1927 in Sialkot, undivided India, J Om Prakash’s father was a teacher in a school in Lahore. J Om Prakash was also fond of studies since childhood.
After the country became independent, Om Prakash came to Mumbai. Here he decided to do something in the film line, but the path was not easy. Initially J Om Prakash had to work as a spot boy. J Om Prakash had told in an interview, ‘I was a spot boy. I did some other small jobs in films, but I always used to watch how the director films a scene. I kept learning a lot from this. Talking about grandfather-grandson relationship, Hrithik made his debut in films at the age of six with his grandfather’s film ‘Asha’.
Later, Hrithik also did films like ‘Aaspaas’ and ‘Bhagwan Dada’ as a child artist with his grandfather. J. There was a very beautiful, sweet and strong relationship between Omprakash and Hrithik i.e. grandfather and grandson. Even J. Omprakash had written in his will that only Hrithik would perform his last rites. Hrithik used to fondly call him Dada.
When Hrithik’s film ‘Super-30’ was released, Hrithik had said, ‘My super teacher is my grandfather J. This is Omprakash. Hrithik also appeared in some of his grandfather’s films, including the 1986 film ‘Bhagwan Dada’. J. Omprakash Aap Ki Kasam (1974), why? (1985), Apnapan (1977), Asha (1980), Apna Bana Lo (1982), Arpan (1983) and Aadmi Toyoy Hai (1983) etc. did not work.
