Rajasthan News Desk!! Politician of the Indian National Congress and former ninth Chief Minister of Rajasthan. He has a long list of achievements. He was twice MP from Bayana seat, MLA from Vair, Governor of Bihar and Haryana, General Secretary of AICC, Deputy Minister at the Center and Chief Minister of Rajasthan from 1980 to 1982.
Jagannath Pahadia’s entry into politics can only be called a strange coincidence. Born in an extremely Dalit family of Bhusavar town in Bharatpur district, Jagannath Pahadia passed MA and then LLB from Rajasthan University. About four decades ago, in a state like Rajasthan where there were kings, emperors and feudal lords, a Dalit becoming the Chief Minister was no less than a big event. But Jagannath Pahadia became the only Dalit CM of the state. Jagannath Pahadia was the CM of Rajasthan for only 13 months from 6 June 1980 to 13 July 1982. During his short tenure, Jagannath Pahadia was the only CM who implemented complete prohibition in the state. Jagannath Pahadia was MP four times in 1957, 1967, 1971 and 1980 and MLA in 1980, 1985, 1990 and 2003. He also served in Indira Gandhi cabinet. He held departments like finance, industry, labour, agriculture.
