According to the legend of Janaki Jayanti, Mithila King King Janak had no children. He loved his subjects very much. There was no rain in his kingdom for many years. A famine situation had arisen in his kingdom. The king then asked the priests and sages to perform a sacrifice to save his kingdom from this trouble. Also told the way to plow the field itself.

King Janak caught the plow and started plowing the fields. Then suddenly his solution got stuck in a place in the field and even after many efforts he did not come out. Where the plow was stuck, when King Janak removed the soil there, he found a girl there. As soon as the girl came out of the earth, it suddenly started raining. This girl was named by King Janaka Sita. He accepted Sita as his daughter.

As soon as Sita came to Mithila, the happiness there came back. After this, people started living with happiness. According to the scriptures, on the day the Mother Sita King Janaka was found in the field, it was the Ashtami date of the Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month. Since then, this date is celebrated on this date. Devotees celebrate this day with great enthusiasm.
