History News Desk !! Kalpana Chawla (English: Kalpana Chawla, born- March 17, 1962; Death- 1 February 2003) was an Indian American astronaut and space shuttle mission specialist. She was one of the seven passenger team members killed in the Colombia spacecraft disaster.
Life introduction
Kalpana Chawla was born on 17 March 1962 in Karnal town, Haryana. Kalpana Chawla was the first Indian to go into space (later she took citizenship of America). Kalpana’s father’s name was ‘Sri Banarasi Lal Chawla’ and mother’s name was ‘Sanjyoti’. She was the youngest of four siblings of her family.
Education
Kalpana Chawla graduated from ‘Tagore School’ in Karnal in 1976, Aeronautical Engineering from Chandigarh in 1982 and MA in Aerospace Engineering from Texas University in 1984. Did. He obtained a doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Colorado in 1988. The same year Kalpana started working at NASA’s AIIMS Research Center. In 1994, he was selected as a spacecraft. He married a French man Jean Pier.

Kalpana’s first space flight S. TS-87 concluded with Columbia Space Shuttle and its duration was from 19 November to 5 December 1997. Kalpana’s second and final flight began on January 16, 2003 with ‘Columbia Space Shuttle’. It was a 16 -day mission. He conducted about 80 tests and experiments including his colleagues. At the time of return, on 1 February 2003, a shuttle accident suffered and 6 astronauts, including Kalpana, died.
