History News Desk !!! Kalpana Dutt (English: Kalpana Dutt, Birth: July 27, 1913; Death: 8 February 1995) was one of the women revolutionaries struggling for the independence of the country. He had connected the team of revolutionary Suryasen to carry out his revolutionary activities. In 1933, Kalpana Dutt was arrested for an encounter with the police. She was able to come out of jail only with the efforts of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore. Kalpana Dutt was awarded the title of ‘Veer Mahila’ for her important contribution.
Birth and revolutionary activities
Kalpana Dutt was born in a middle class family in Sripur village of Chittagong (now Bangladesh). After his early education at Chittagong, she came to Kolkata for higher education. She was impressed by reading the biographies of famous revolutionaries and soon she was eager to do something herself. On April 18, 1930 AD, Kalpana Dutt moved back from Kolkata as soon as the incident of ‘Chittagong Arms Loot’ occurred and contacted a team of revolutionary Suryasen. She used to change the disguise to these people. Meanwhile, he also practiced targeting.
Imprisonment
Kalpana and her comrades planned to fly the court building of the revolutionaries and blow the prison wall. But the police could not be implemented due to the information. Kalpana Dutt was arrested in a male disguise, but he was released when the prosecution was not proved. His house was guarded by the police. But Kalpana got out of the house after dodging the police and met the revolutionary Suryasen. Suryasen was arrested and Kalpana Dutt was also arrested after an armed match between police and revolutionaries for some time in May 1933. The trial went on and in February 1934 AD, Suryasen and Tarakeshwar Dastikar were hanged and 21 -year -old Kalpana Dutt was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Release and honor
In 1937, when the Indian cabinet was formed in the states for the first time, Kalpana was able to come out of jail with special efforts of Gandhiji, Rabindranath Tagore etc. He completed his studies. She joined the Communist Party and in 1943, she got married to Communist leader Puran Chand Joshi and became Kalpana Joshi. Kalpana later came to Delhi from Bengal and started working in the ‘Indo Soviet Cultural Society’. In September 1979, Kalpana Joshi was awarded the title of ‘Veer Mahila’ in Pune.
