Story of Karva Chauth fast-
According to the popular story, once upon a time a Brahmin lived in a village with his 7 sons and a daughter. The daughter’s name was Veeravati. When Veeravati became eligible for marriage, the family members married her. When Karva Chauth arrived, Veeravati fasted but due to hunger and thirst she fainted.
Seeing the sister unconscious, the brothers broke her fast by shining torch light from behind the tree. As soon as Veeravati had food, her husband died. When Devraj Indra’s wife came to earth at night, she saw such a condition of Veeravati. He asked Veeravati to observe Karva Chauth fast again next time. Due to the effect of this fast, Veeravati’s husband came back to life.
