Entertainment News Desk!!! Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam (English: Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam, born January 25, 1958, Delhi) is one of the famous playback singers of Indian cinema. When she was just eight years old, she won first prize in a singing competition. Since then she had decided to become a famous singer. Kavita Krishnamurthy has sung 25 thousand songs in about a dozen languages including Hindi. In view of his contribution in the field of singing, he was honored with ‘Padmashree’ by the Government of India in 2005. Apart from this, she has also been given the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer four times.
Introduction
Kavita Krishnamurthy was born on 25 January 1958 in New Delhi. Her real name is ‘Sharda’. His father was an employee in the ‘Education and Cultural Affairs Ministry’. It is amazing the diversity of India that the first music that a girl from a Tamil Iyer family in the largest city of North India learned was Rabindra Sangeet of Bengal. Kavita was just 9 years old when she sang with Lata Mangeshkar. The year was 1967. By then Lata Mangeshkar had gone far ahead on the path of becoming a legend. Kavita Krishnamurthy’s childhood was spent in the government colony of Lutyens Delhi. She wanted to become an IFS officer when she grew up. But then she developed such a passion for music that she started learning classical from Balrampuri and shifted to Mumbai halfway through her studies. Kavita Krishnamurthy did BA in Economics from the famous St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. During this time she met Ranu Mukherjee, daughter of Hemant Kumar. Once again the path to music opened. Manna Dey made him sing many jingles for radio. Then met Hema Malini’s mother Jaya Chakraborty. He took the poem to Laxmikant. Laxmikant took Kavita under his protection.
Marriage
Kavita Krishnamurthy violinist L. Subramaniam’s wife. In an interview, she had told that – “Once she had to sing a song for Subramaniam along with singer Hariharan, she was not married at that time. Subramaniam was very famous and hence Kavita was very nervous with him, but she was very patient. They completed the song together. After this, while working together, both came closer and got married.

In the year 1980, Kavita Krishnamurthy sang her first playback song ‘Kahe Ko Byahi’ (Maang Bharo Sajna). Although this song was later removed from the film, Kavita’s talent was not to be suppressed. In 1985, the songs of the film ‘Pyaar Jhukta Nahi’ gave her recognition as a playback singer. After this, the songs ‘Hawa Hawai’ and ‘Karte Hain Hum Pyar’ from the film ‘Mr. India’ gave her the status of superhit singer. In the 90s, Kavita Krishnamurthy emerged as a leading playback singer of Hindi cinema. His songs sung in the film ‘1942 A Love Story’ are still liked today. Once in an interview, Kavita Krishnamurthy had told that- “In childhood, she liked actor Dilip Kumar very much. When she was growing up, she liked Sanjeev Kumar among the actors. She also likes Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan. Among actresses, she considers Shabana Azmi as the best actress. Has sung songs for top actresses like Koirala and Aishwarya Rai.”
