Of. C. Shivshankar (English: KC Shivshankar, born- 1927; died- September 29, 2020) was a famous painter and cartoonist of India. People also know him by the name ‘Chanda Mama’. After portraying the stories of ‘Vikram Betal’ in Chandamama magazine, he got special recognition across the country. Apart from this. C. Shivshankar drew many more cartoons. He contributed to the field of art for more than 60 years. In the year 2021 K. C. Shivshankar was posthumously awarded ‘Padmashree’.
Chandamama was a popular monthly magazine aimed at children and youth, which published stories based on Indian folk tales, mythological and historical events.
Of. C. Shivshankar was born in 1927. In 1934, he moved to Chennai with his mother and siblings, where he completed his schooling.
