Sahitya News Desk !!! Mohammad Alvi (English: Mohammed Alvi, born- 10 April, 1927; Death- 29 January 2018) was a famous Urdu poet and litterateur. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in the year 1992 for one of his poetry compilation ‘Fourth Akash’.

Mohammad Alvi was born on 10 April 1927 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. In 1937, Jamia Milia Islamia entered the school of Delhi, but did not live in studies, could not study beyond fifth grade and went back to Ahmedabad. But the atmosphere of the house was literary and poetry itself was running in their blood, so the process of reading literature continued. Mohammad Alvi read many historical novels and started writing stories. Some stories were shown to Krishna Chandar often in the days before 1947, he used to reach Mumbai, where I also met Saadat Hasan Manto. The progressive movement also came under the influence of the movement, but his mind was more towards modernity. Wrote the first ghazal in 1947, which led to the process of his unique shayari of his kind and a new chapter was increased in Urdu poetry. Mohammad Alvi died on January 29, 2018 in Ahmedabad. His first poem collection ‘Khali House’ surfaced in 1963 and then in 1967 ‘Last Din Ki Tahlai’, ‘Third Book’ in 1978, ‘Fourth Akash’ in 1992. In the year 1995, his poetry-composite ‘Raat Roshan’ was published. Mohammad Alvi was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1992. This year, Gujarat Sahitya Akademi also honored him.
