Pratibha Patil was born on 19 December 1934 in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra. His father’s name was Narayan Rao. He was a politician. Pratibha completed her primary education from Jalgaon. She was very intelligent since childhood. After completing his primary education, he graduated from Mulji Jaitha College. After this he completed his law studies from Government Law College, Mumbai.

Pratibha Patil was very active during her college days. She was a very good table tennis player. She was very beautiful due to which she got the title of ‘College Queen’. In 1965, she married Professor Devisingh Ransingh Shekhawat. The couple have two children. Pratibha Patil, who wears saree and big bindi, has created a distinct identity for herself.

Pratibha Patin tried her hand not only in politics but also in business. He opened many schools and colleges in Jalgaon, Amravati, Pune and Mumbai. Apart from this he opened an engineering college for rural students in Jalgaon and also ran a co-operative sugar factory. Pratibha ji also started Pratibha Sahakari Mahila Bank. But in 2003 the Reserve Bank canceled the license. After which this bank was closed.

Pratibha Patis has been associated with social service work since the beginning. Before coming into politics, she used to help people in the society. Besides, she always worked to improve the status of women in the society. Let us tell you that he entered politics at the age of 27. Pratibha Patil had contested the assembly elections from Jalgaon seat of Maharashtra. He won this election. Apart from this, he won from Mukti Nagar assembly four times on Congress ticket.

Pratibha Patil was Deputy Minister in the Government of Maharashtra between 1967-72. Then she became the Minister of Social Welfare from 1972 to 1974. During this period he also took charge of other ministries. She was the ninth Deputy Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha from 18 November 1986 to 5 November 1988. After this, from 2004 to 2007, he took charge as the 17th Governor of Rajasthan.

In 2007, UPA made Pratibha Patil its presidential candidate. NDA’s Bhairo Singh Shekhawat was facing Pratibha Patil. But Bhairo Singh Shekhawat lost to Pratibha Patil by about 3 lakh votes. After this he held the highest constitutional post of India. In this way Pratibha Patil became the first woman President of the country. Pratibha Patil’s tenure was from 25 July 2007 to 25 July 2012.
