Vishwa Mohan Badola (English: Vishwa Mohan Badola, born- 1936; died- November 23, 2020) was a film actor and TV artist. He also played the role of Akshay Kumar’s father in the film ‘Jolly LLB 2’. Vishwa Mohan Badola worked in many TV serials and films. He was also a well-known personality in the world of theatre. He started his journey as a professional journalist, but later turned to the art world and started working in theaters in Delhi. Vishwa Mohan Badola did more than four hundred plays for Akashvani in his career spanning five decades. He also worked in many popular films including Ashutosh Gowarikar’s film ‘Swades’.
Vishwa Mohan Badola came to Mayanagar Mumbai from a small village in Uttarakhand and made a name for himself on the basis of his acting. Vishwa Mohan Badola was born in 1936 in Thatholi village of Dhangu development block of Pauri. After primary education, he did BA Honors in English from Delhi University in 1962. After this he joined Voice of America Radio. His elder son Varun Badola is also a famous film actor. They have three children including son Varun, daughter Alka and Kalindi. From 1965 to 1993, Vishwa Mohan Badola was associated with journalism through various prestigious newspapers and television. He was considered a news expert on the countries of South Asia. He traveled for reporting to countries like America, Egypt, Syria, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Russia, Japan, Pakistan and Nepal.
Vishwa Mohan was very active in theatre. He worked in about 400 plays for All India Radio. As an actor, he also appeared in many TV shows including ‘Jodha Akbar’, ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’. He was last seen in Manoj Bajpayee and Tabu’s film ‘Missing’. Death Vishwa Mohan Badola died on November 23, 2020. His son and famous actor Varun Wadola confirmed his father’s demise by writing an emotional post on Instagram. Varun Wadola wrote, “Many people complain that their children do not listen to them. Many people forget that their children are watching them. My father never sat me down and taught me anything.”
Varun Wadola further wrote, “He lived his life to teach me. He set such an example that I had no other option but to follow him. If you think I am a good artist, then he is responsible for it. If I had the talent to write, I would have become a singer. When he sang, time would have stopped. Is and listens. His legacy will last forever”.
