Janaki Ballabh Patnaik (English: Janaki Ballabh Patnaik, born- 3 January 1927, Rameshwar, Puri, Odisha; died- 21 April 2015, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh) was an Indian politician and senior leader of the National Congress. He became the Governor of Assam in 2009. As an Indian National Congress leader, Patnaik ji was the Chief Minister of Odisha from 1980 to 1989 and again from 1995 to 1999. Before Naveen Patnaik, he held the record of being the Chief Minister of Odisha for the longest period.

Janaki Ballabh Patnaik was born on 3 January 1927 in Rameshwar, Puri district. He completed his school education from Khurd High School and completed his graduation in Sanskrit from Utkal University in 1947 and post-graduation in Political Science from Banaras Hindu University in 1949.
