Sahitya News Desk !!! Vishwanath Satyanarayan (born: 10 September 1895; died: 18 October 1976) was a Telugu language writer. He was awarded the Jnanpith Award in 1971. Vishwanath Satyanarayan was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 1971 in the field of literature and education. He was from the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Vishwanath Satyanarayan was born on 10 September 1895 in Nandamuru village in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. Telugu poet Vishwanath Satyanarayan is famous for his huge novel ‘Veyipagalu’ (‘Sahasaphag’, English translator: Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao), epic ‘Shri Ramayana-Kalpavriksham’ (English translation: Dr. Sarojini ‘Mahishi’) which received the Bharatiya Jnanpith Award in 1971, and a collection of poems named ‘Madhyakkaralu’ (recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award). He was an excellent poet in the modern era of Telugu. He was a scholar of Sanskrit and was also very influenced by Tulsidas’ ‘Ramcharitmanas’. Vishwanath Satyanarayan was a follower of the ‘Granthik’ style, while other journalists were proponents of the practical style. There were many controversies between the two ideologies. He was a man of versatile talent and has written successfully in many genres. Vishwanath Satyanarayana died on October 18, 1976 in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
