Ram Mohan (English: Ram Mohan, born: November 2, 1929, Ambala; death: December 6, 2015, Mumbai) was known as a villain and character actor in Hindi cinema. He also acted in 15 television serials like ‘Mirza Ghalib’, ‘Tara’, ‘Shatranj’, ‘Sansar’, ‘Bahadur Shah Zafar’, ‘Yeh Dilli Hai’ and ‘Mahabharat’.
Ram Mohan was born on November 2, 1929 in Ambala Cantt. His father Dr. Sadhuram Sharma was originally from Jagadhri and ran his hospital in Ambala. Ram Mohan’s mother, Mrs. Yogmaya Sharma, was a housewife. He was his only child, although he had an elder brother and an elder sister from his father’s first marriage. Ram Mohan received his matriculation from Arya School, Ambala.
Mahesh Uppal, an acquaintance of Ram Mohan and a resident of Ambala, used to work as a painter in the ‘Famous Art Studio’ located near Mumbai Central and also lived in the studio. Ram Mohan spent about two months living with Mahesh Uppal. According to Ram Mohan, during that time he used to make daily rounds of film studios like ‘Ranjit Movietone’ and ‘Famous Studio’ located in the nearby areas of Dadar and Mahalaxmi. Sometimes he had to bribe the doorman to enter those studios. After two months, he had to leave Mahesh Uppal’s studio, so he came to Vile Parle to live.
After the success of Ram Mohan’s film ‘Jaggu’, his path became easier. In the next few years, he worked in films like ‘Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’ (1953), ‘Pensioner’ (1954), ‘hotel’, ‘Lal-e-Yaman’ (both 1956), ‘Devar Bhabhi’, ‘Miss 58’, ‘Night Club’. ‘, ‘Rajsimhasan’ (all 1958), ‘God and the Devil’, ‘Chacha Zindaba’, ‘Do Sisters’, ‘Tipu Played important roles in films like ‘Sultan’ (all 1959), ‘Angulimal’, ‘Bahadur Lootera’, ‘Choron Ki Baraat’, ‘Kaala Aadmi’ and ‘Return of Mr. Superman’ (all 1960).
Ram Mohan acted in 15 television serials like ‘Mirza Ghalib’, ‘Tara’, ‘Shatranj’, ‘Sansar’, ‘Bahadur Shah Zafar’, ‘Yeh Dilli Hai’ and ‘Mahabharat’. Apart from being the Vice President of ‘Cine Artists Association’ for 4 years and General Secretary for 6 years, he was also active in various associations working in the interest of people associated with cinema.
Ram Mohan died on 6 December 2015 in Mumbai at the age of 86.
