Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil (English: Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil, born October 22, 1935) is an Indian politician and social worker. He has been the Governor of Bihar. In the year 1991 D.Y. Patil was awarded Padma Shri for social service.
D.Y. Patil was the Governor of the eastern Indian state of Bihar from May 29, 2012 to November 26, 2014. He is a teacher and was an Indian National Congress leader from Maharashtra. He was also appointed as the Governor (additional charge) of West Bengal. On December 24, 2018, D.Y. Patil joined the Nationalist Congress Party. He was elected to the Kolhapur Municipal Council as a Congress candidate in 1957 and held the position till 1962. He was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from 1967–1978. In the elections of 1967 and 1972, D.Y. Patil was elected from Panhala assembly constituency. He was appointed the Governor of Tripura state on November 21, 2009.
