In response, Indira Gandhi declared a national emergency and arrested Narayan and other opposition leaders. Jayaprakash ji was arrested after five months. The JP movement against corruption became widespread and many parties like Jan Sangh, Samajwadi, Congress (O) and Bharatiya Lok Dal came together to topple the Congress government and restore civil liberties. Thus, Jayaprakash united the non-communist opposition parties and formed the Janata Party. The one who jumps into the pond himself.
