Satyadev Prasad (English: Satyadev Prasad, born – 19 September, 1979) is an Indian archer. He participated in men’s individual archery at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He won a bronze medal at the Asian Team Championships held in Malaysia. He also participated in the Rome World Championships (1999), Beijing World Championships (2001) and New York World Championships (2003).
Satyadev Prasad was born on 19th September, 1979 in the house of late Ramaprasad Baranwal in Nizamabad town, famous for black pottery. Seeing the child’s interest in ancient Indian culture, his parents decided to give him education through Gurukul system. At the age of 11, Satyadev’s parents enrolled him in Gurukul Ashram near Bholjhal in Meerut for studies in the year 1991. While receiving education, he started taking training in archery with wooden bow and arrow under the supervision of the director of the Ashram, Swami Vivekanand Saraswati from the year 1993. With his hard work and dedication, Satyadev started moving towards his goal.[1]
Satyadev set a record by winning more than a hundred gold, silver and bronze medals in national and international archery competitions.
He became champion in the Junior National Archery Competition for the first time in 1994.
Won medals in the Asian Games in Bangkok in 1998.
He participated in the Archery World Cup held in Paris in 1999 and performed excellently.
Participating in the Athens Olympics 2004, he missed the bronze medal by just a few points.
Prasad was selected for the post of Inspector in ITBP in the year 2000. In 2015, he resigned from the post of Inspector and joined the post of Archery Instructor in Kolkata. After staying in Kolkata for two years, he worked as an instructor in Meerut. Currently, he is associated with the Sports Ministry in Delhi. Along with this, he is also the Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Archery Association.[1]
