In most Hindi films, he played the character of the villain. Actor Sujit Kumar is considered the first superstar of Bhojpuri films. When Bhojpuri films were about to drown in the 60-70s, in Bhojpuri films, Sujit worked to blow Sanjeevani and just since then his magic has been such that he had become the first superstar of Bhollywood.
Introduction
Sujit Kumar was born on 7 February 1934 in Banaras, Uttar Pradesh. Sujit Kumar, who belonged to a farmer family, probably never thought that he would become an unmatched actor of Bhojpuri cinema. Along with his famous actor Rajesh Khanna, he played the role of a supporting actor in many films. Sujit Kumar has a son and a daughter in his family.
Film beginning
If Talking about the early stages of Sujit Kumar’s film career, Sujit was not interested in going to films. It is about the time when Sujit was studying law and he took part in a drama. It is a matter of fortunate that Fani Mazumdar Saheb, who was a judge in that drama competition, has been a well -known producer. Fani ji called him the best actor of the play and said- “Why don’t you try in films?” This one sentence turned Sujit Kumar towards films. Kishore Kumar gave Sujit an opportunity to the first film ‘Door Gagan Ki Chhaon’. But Sunit Kumar had to wait for ‘Aradhana’ to get success. Sujit Kumar was the on-screen companion of Rajesh Khanna. In films like ‘Hathi Mera Saathi’, ‘Amar Prem’, ‘Mehbooba’, ‘Roti’, both were well appreciated. Apart from Rajesh Khanna, Sujit Kumar also appeared several times with top actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. Amitabh’s ‘The Great Gambler’, ‘Adalat’ and Dharmendra’s ‘Jugnu’, ‘Dharamvir’, ‘Charas’, ‘Dream Girl’ and ‘Aankhen’ were well liked.
Bhojpuri’s first superstar
Even though Sujit Kumar was frozen in Hindi films, his soul resided in Bhojpuri. He also turned to Bhojpuri films to fulfill his responsibility towards his language and culture. In Bhojpuri’s first film “Ganga Maiya Tohe Pieri Chadibo”, Aseem Kumar was replaced by actress Kumkum due to his insistence; But Sujit Kumar did not make it a question of prestige and kept on strengthening the film stream of Bhojpuri. He was the hero of Bhojpuri’s first colorful film “Dangal” in 1977. The film ‘Dangal’ crossed the sinking kayak of Bhojpuri cinema. Success at the film’s box office gave Bhojpuri a new life. Sujit Kumar’s acting was so much scattered in Bhojpuri films that he came to be called the first superstar of Bhojpuri films. His films were very popular not only in India but also in Mauritius, Guyana, Fiji, Suriname etc. countries. After ‘Dangal’, he worked in dozens of successful films like ‘Loha Singh’, ‘Pan Khaye Saiyan Hamar’, ‘Ganga Kah Pukar Ke’ and ‘Sajanwa Barry Bhele Hamar’. In 1983, he produced and directed the ‘Pan Khaye Saiyan Hamar’, in which Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha were in the role of a visiting artist. In this way, the credit for bringing star culture in Bhojpuri films also goes to him. By the 90s, Bhojpuri cinema had become a victim of sheep. Desperate, Sujit Kumar opted out of such films.

Death
Sujit Kumar died on 5 February 2010 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He was 75 years old at the time of death. He was battling cancer for a long time.
