Limba Ram Birthday: He used to do archery to earn his living, then he won a medal and brought recognition to the country, know the story of Limba Ram on his birthday

Limba Ram (English: Limba Ram, born- 24 September, 1971, Udaipur, Rajasthan) is the first famous Indian archer who achieved success in the field of archery at the world level. He won the gold medal by setting a world record in the 1992 Asian Championship. In the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Limba Ram missed out on a medal by just one point. He was awarded India’s prestigious ‘Arjuna Award’ in 1991.

Limba Ram was born on 24 September 1971 in Saradit village of Udaipur district in Rajasthan. In his childhood, he used to hunt in the forests of Udaipur. The credit for making him proficient in the art of archery goes to the Sports Authority of India, which trained him under the ‘Special Area Memon Program’.

Limba Ram was selected along with three other archers. In fact, the Sports Authority of India had discovered Limba Ram along with the famous ‘Arjuna Award’ winner archer Shamlal during a talent search. In the same year, Limba Ram won the Senior National Archery Championship by setting national records in the 50 meter and 30 meter categories. After proving his ability at the national level, Limba Ram also proved his ability at the international level. He set a world record in the 30 meter category in the 1992 Beijing Asian Games and won the gold medal.

Limba Ram was appointed as the Sports Officer in Punjab National Bank after the post remained vacant for many years. He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1991. Earlier, he was awarded the Maharana Pratap Award in 1990. He is currently appointed as the Sports Officer in Hindustan Zinc Limited.
