The Government of India awarded the Arjuna Award in the year 2003 to illuminate the name of India in the world of boxing and was awarded the Padma Shri in the year 2006. On July 29, 2009, she was jointly selected with boxer Vijender Kumar and wrestler Sushil Kumar for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, India’s highest sports honor. In the year 2013, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan.
