History News Desk !!! Mohan Dharia (English: Mohan Dharia, born: 14 February 1925; death: October 14, 2013) was a former Union Minister, lawyer and social worker of India. Mohan Dharia, a two-time member of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, is a well-known name of state level and national level politics. He was the Minister of State in 1971 during the tenure of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, but left the Congress after the emergency came into force in 1975. He then joined the Bharatiya Lok Dal and became the Minister of Commerce in 1977 during the tenure of Prime Minister Morarji Desai. Mohan Dharia was also the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission.
Life introduction
Born on 14 February 1925 in Mahad city of Raigad district of Maharashtra, Dharia completed his schooling here before going to Pune. He completed his legal studies from ILS Law College. After five decades of active life in politics, he became a dedicated environmentalist and worked for the rights of farmers.

UPA President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh honored Mohan Dharia with the Indira Gandhi National Integration Award. This award is given to the people working for the country and society.

Death
Mohan Dharia breathed his last at Poona Hospital in Pune on 14 October 2013. Mohan Dharia was suffering from a prolonged disease. Mohan Dharia is left behind by his wife Sasikala, son Sushil and Ravindra and daughter Sadhana Shroff. According to doctors, 88 -year -old Mohan Dharia was struggling with the problem in the kidney for the last one year.
