Mohanji Prasad (English: Mohanji Prasad, death- November 17, 2020) was a director of Hindi and Bhojpuri films. He directed hit films like ‘Ram Balram’, ‘Ghar Parivar’, and ‘Aurat Teri Yehi Kahani’. Mohanji Prasad started his film direction with the film ‘Aurat Teri Yehi Kahani’ starring actress Meenakshi Sheshadri. His contribution to cinema is incomparable. Apart from Meenakshi Sheshadri, stars like Rishi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna and Karisma Kapoor worked in his films.
Introduction
Mohanji Prasad started his writing career in the year 1989 with the film ‘Bade Ghar Ki Beti’. His name has been much talked about as a director in Bhojpuri films and people have been respecting him a lot. Prominent among the Bhojpuri films made by him are ‘Ganga Jaisan Mai Hamar’, ‘Rasik Balma’, ‘Ram Balram’, ‘Hamar Saiya Hindustani’ and ‘Mai Baap’.
Renunciation of film direction and production
Mohanji Prasad also made family films in Hindi cinema for a long time. Apart from Meenakshi Sheshadri, stars like Rishi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna and Karisma Kapoor have worked in his films. Mohanji Prasad never used the popular tricks in Bhojpuri for success and when obscenity and double meaning dialogues and songs started becoming prevalent in Bhojpuri, he separated from film direction and production.

People associated with Bhojpuri cinema say that when the struggling artistes used to go to Mohanji Prasad’s bungalow to ask for work and it took time to meet him, they used to sing loudly the song ‘Panditji Batai Na Biyah Kab Hoi.’ His film ‘Panditji Batai Na Biyah Kab Hoi’ is counted among the popular films of Bhojpuri. Bhojpuri films include Ganga Jaisan Mai Hamar, Rasik Balma, Ram Balram, Hamar Saiya Hindustani and Mai Baap.
