Actually, the Election Commission of India was established on 25 January 1950, after which the Constitution came into force on 26 January. Earlier this day was only remembered, but from 2011 it started being celebrated as a day. The then President Pratibha Patil celebrated National Voters’ Day for the first time on January 25 in 2011. Since then, National Voters’ Day is celebrated every year on 25 January throughout the country.
Work to make young voters aware
The main objective of this National Voters’ Day is to create electoral awareness among the citizens and encourage them to participate in the electoral process. Dedicated to the voters of the country, National Voters’ Day is also used to facilitate the enrollment of voters, especially new young voters.
On the occasion of National Voters’ Day, different camps are organized and first time voters are given their voter photo identity cards. Selfie points have also been made at many places for the youth. India is going to celebrate the 14th National Voters’ Day.
