On this day, there is a tradition of worshiping Lord Krishna and cows. Govardhan is also known as Annakoot at some places. Lord Krishna is duly worshiped on this day. This year Govardhan Puja will be performed after Diwali. But there is confusion regarding the date. This year Govardhan Puja is being celebrated on 2nd November. Do not make these mistakes during Govardhan Puja-
Govardhan Puja should always be done in the courtyard or in an open place. Do not do this puja even by mistake in a closed room or a closed place. It is considered inauspicious to do so. Govardhan Puja should not be done separately, rather all the members of the family should do this puja together, only then it gets its full results. During Govardhan Puja, do not wear black colored clothes even by mistake, it is considered inauspicious. In this puja, worship only by wearing light yellow or orange colored clothes. It is auspicious to do so.

While worshiping cows in Govardhan Puja, worship Lord Krishna and do not forget to offer food to the cows. It is not considered good to do so. On this day, do not harm cows, plants or any kind of animal even by mistake. By doing this, God may get angry and you will feel guilty.

On the day of Govardhan Puja, one should not consume meat, alcohol or tamasic things. It is considered inauspicious and doing so creates unrest in life. Govardhan parikrama should be done barefoot and wearing clean clothes and this parikrama should not be left midway or incomplete.
