Dilipbhai Ramanbhai Parikh (English: Dilipbhai Ramanbhai Parikh, born- 14 February, 1937; died- 25 October, 2019) was an Indian politician, who was the former 13th Chief Minister of Gujarat. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from October 28, 1997 to March 4, 1998.
Dilipbhai Ramanbhai Parikh was the 13th Chief Minister of the state. At that time he was with the Rashtriya Janata Party (RJP) formed by Shankersinh Vaghela, which was formed after breaking away from the BJP. His government had the support of Congress.
Dilipbhai Ramanbhai Parikh started his political career as a BJP MLA in the mid-1990s.
He was an industrialist and had also been the President of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Shankarsinh Vaghela had rebelled and separated from BJP in 1996 and Dilipbhai Ramanbhai Parikh joined hands with the regional leader and joined his party RJP. After this Shankarsinh Vaghela became the Chief Minister with the support of Congress.
A year later, when Congress talked about withdrawing support due to differences, Shankarsinh Vaghela backed down. Under the formula of agreement, Dilipbhai Ramanbhai Parikh, a confidant of Shankarsinh Vaghela, took oath as the Chief Minister in October 1997 and remained the Chief Minister till March 1998. After this BJP came back to power by winning the assembly elections.
