Veteran Bollywood actor and comedian Asrani is celebrating his 82nd birthday today. Asrani was born on 1 January 1940 in Jaipur. Asrani’s full name is Govardhan Asrani. He has worked in films for 5 decades, which includes more than 350 films. In 1964, he joined the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and learned acting from there. Initially he did not get many roles so he became a teacher in FTII. Asrani has not only made the audience laugh but has also sung melodious music. Very few people know that Asrani has also sung songs in films.

Asrani started her film career with the film ‘Kaanch Ki Chudiyan’ released in 1967. Asrani has acted brilliantly in many films, but the role of the jailer in ‘Sholay’ left a lasting impression on his acting. The dialogue ‘We are the jailers of the British era’ became such a hit that even today it is spoken on many occasions. Apart from this, Asrani acted brilliantly in films like ‘Mere Apne’, ‘Bawarchi’, ‘Parichay’, ‘Abhiman’, ‘Mehboob’, ‘Bandish’, ‘Chupke-Chupke’.

Asrani’s personal life

Asrani is married to actress Manju Bansal, both of whom have worked together in many films. Asrani and Manju have a son named Naveen Asrani. Asrani has three brothers and four sisters. Apart from Hindi, he also worked in Gujarati. Apart from this he is also interested in politics. He joined the Congress Party in 2004.
