History News Desk!!! Acharya Parshuram Chaturvedi (English: Parshuram Chaturvedi, born: July 25, 1894; death: January 3, 1979) was a hard-working scholar, researcher and critic. He was born in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. He was educated in Allahabad and Varanasi Universities. He was a lawyer by profession, but he had a deep interest in spiritual literature. He was a scholar of many dialects of Sanskrit and Hindi.
Persona
Parshuram Chaturvedi’s personality was easy-going. He was of simple nature. He was an embodiment of affection and harmony. The single body, fair complexion, medium height and thick white mustache were enough to highlight his greatness. No line of deformity of traditional literature was seen on his face, rather a certain radiance always throbbed, due to which the feeling of brotherhood and friendship kept radiating. Chaturvadi ji was a great explorer. In search of man’s tradition of thought, he deeply studied the literature of saints. He was a supporter of free thinking, hence he did not like to be bound under any sect or flag. He was a supporter of evolutionary theory in literature. Elders were always seen bowing before his wisdom. His life was dedicated to the welfare of humanity.
Important contribution in making Kabir famous
Very few people know that it was Acharya Parshuram Chaturvedi who had done the work of taking Kabir out of the lair of the ignorant and making him sit among the scholars. The description, detail and analysis of Kabir’s poetic forms, Padavali, Sakhi and Ramani that Acharya Parshuram Chaturvedi has provided, and has provided after searching, was not easy. Then later, the prestige that people like Acharya Hazari Prasad Dwivedi gave to Kabir, who made Kabir Kabir, was the success and expansion of the work of Acharya Parshuram Chaturvedi, nothing else. He discovered and enshrined all the extinct saint poets like Dadu, Dukhharan, Dharnidas, Bhikharam, Teram, Paltu from who knows where. Epithets like pioneer of saint literature are not given to him just like that. The work done by Acharya Parshuram Chaturvedi on Meera is also innumerable. It was not easy as we traveled from village to village, temple to temple and even met Maharaja Anup Singh of Meera’s family. Some people had started calling him a diggers, but when his books got published and became famous, the tongue of this ‘diggers’ was put under lock and key.
‘Analysis of Saint Literature of North India’, ‘Sources of Inspiration for Saint Literature’, ‘Flow of Love in Hindi Poetry Stream’, ‘Medieval Love Sadhana’, ‘Sufi Poetry Collection’, ‘Medieval Aesthetic Trends’, ‘Buddhist Literature His books like ‘Cultural Glimpse’, ‘Dadu Dayal Granthawali’, ‘Mirabai Ki Padawali’, ‘Sankshpit Ram Charit Manas’ and ‘Kabir Sahitya Ki Parakh’ The list is neither very long nor short. The small details of Shant Rasa that he provides in ‘Shaant Rasa Ek Vivechan’ are rare. It is a strange coincidence that Acharya Hazari Prasad Dwivedi was born in the village on the banks of Ganga in Ballia and Acharya Parshuram Chaturvedi was born in the village Jawahi on the other bank. Both of them were great scholars. But Acharya Hazari Prasad Dwivedi reached the pinnacle of fame. And Acharya Parshuram Chaturvedi touched the pinnacle of scholarship. But he did not get as much fame as he should have. So this is the misfortune of Hindi people only, not of Acharya Parshuram Chaturvedi.
