Every day of Pitru Paksha is dedicated to the ancestors, so one should not have physical relations during this period even by mistake. By observing celibacy in these 16 days, one gets the full benefit of Shraddha Puja. Apart from this, the people in whose house Pitru Paksha Puja is performed should not share the food prepared at home with friends from office, college and school etc.
Let us tell you that the food of Shraddha Puja should be eaten only by the people of the house. No auspicious or shubh work should be done during the days of Pitru Paksha. During this time, auspicious works like engagement, marriage, housewarming, tonsure should also be avoided. Apart from this, one should not consume tamasic things even by mistake during the 16 days of Pitru Paksha. Doing so can lead to suffering. Apart from this, one should not cut hair or beard.
