Pushkar Singh Dhami (English: Pushkar Singh Dhami, born- 16 September 1975) is an Indian politician who is associated with the country’s major political party Bharatiya Janata Party. He has been the state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Pushkar Singh Dhami will now be the 10th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. 45-year-old Pushkar Singh Dhami is going to become the youngest Chief Minister of Uttarakhand till date. He is an MLA from Khatima assembly seat of Udham Singh Nagar. After the resignation of former Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat, Pushkar Singh Dhami will now be the next CM of the state.
Pushkar Singh Dhami was born on 16 September 1975 in a village named Kanalichhina in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. His father was a Subedar in the army. Even though Pushkar Singh Dhami is from Pithoragarh, he calls Khatima his karmabhoomi. He has also been the state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. He is considered to have a good hold on the youth workers of BJP. Pushkar Singh Dhami has become MLA for the second consecutive time from Khatima assembly seat of Udham Singh district. Pushkar Singh Dhami is considered close to former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Koshyari is no longer in active politics and is currently the Governor of Maharashtra.[1]
In the year 2012, Pushkar Singh Dhami became MLA from Khatima seat for the first time. He then defeated Devendra Chand of Congress by a margin of about 5 thousand votes. In the 2017 Uttarakhand Assembly elections, Pushkar Singh Dhami Khatima won for the second consecutive time. This time he defeated Bhuvan Chandra Kapri of Congress by a margin of less than 3 thousand votes. Now he is going to become the 10th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
