Ramanuj Prasad Singh (English: Ramanuj Prasad Singh, born- 5 December, 1935; died- 21 September, 2021) was a famous news speaker of Akashvani. Ramanuj Prasad Singh, who joined Akashvani in 1960, worked as a news reader on Akashvani for a long time. Due to reading news for years in the prime bulletins of morning, afternoon and evening, Ramanuj Prasad Singh became a well-known name among the common people. He was the son of Satyanarayan ji, younger brother of poet and literature Chancellor Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’, i.e. Dinkar ji’s nephew.
Not only in the country, but also in foreign countries where All India Radio news was heard, Ramanuj Prasad Singh was respected a lot. He not only had a powerful voice but also a great personality. Devkinandan Pandey and Vinod Kashyap were even more popular because they came before him. But Ramanuj kept his style of reading news different from both of them. Therefore, he had a different aura of his own. Big administrators, ministers, artists, all respected him a lot. Born on 5 December 1935 in Simaria village of Begusarai, Bihar, Ramanuj was fortunate that the famous poet Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ was his uncle.
When Ramanuj Prasad Singh married Manibala, a girl of his choice, in 1966, Dinkar ji organized a reception for his wedding at his Delhi residence, which was attended by many litterateurs, poets and politicians. All this tells how much respect and love Ramanuj Prasad received in those times. Whether you talk to his colleagues at Akashvani or his family members, the one thing everyone says in unison is that he was ‘Ajatshatru’.[1]
Maramanuj Prasad Singh Ji passed away on 21 September 2021. Ramanuj Prasad Singh was always ready to help others. After retirement, he spent the last 25 years completely dedicated to his family and lived a very happy life. Rising above narrow-mindedness, he got his three children married inter-caste. Both in the family and the work field, he has left behind many such examples from which a lot can be learnt.
