Rani Rampal (English: Rani Rampal, born 4 December, 1994) is an Indian hockey player and captain of the Indian women’s hockey team. At the age of 15, she was the youngest player of the national team to participate in the 2010 World Cup. After completing her schooling, Rani Rampal took admission in BA but due to practice, she stopped studying. She plays at the forefront of her team. He has played 212 international matches and scored 134 goals. She is also known as a striker, often operating as a mid-fielder. He is very fond of Commonwealth Games. In 2020, the Government of India honored him with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and then the Padma Shri.
Rani Rampal was born on 4 December 1994 in Kurukshetra, Haryana. She comes from an economically weak family background. Rani’s father worked as a cart laborer with a modest income of Rs. His entire family – his parents, two brothers, their wives and the queen – lived in a hut. Rani Rampal had only one desire, to raise the status of her family.
Coming from a state where girls were killed before they were born, making a career in sports is even more difficult. On top of that, the queen’s city, Shahabad Markanda, was comparatively more conservative. For three years Rani tried tirelessly to convince her parents. They were worried that the queen would bring the family name into disrepute. She will have to wear short skirts while playing hockey. Luckily the parents gave up on social pressure and let their daughter pursue her dream.
Rani Rampal joined the city’s hockey team at the age of six. In 2003 he started training at the Shahbad Hockey Academy. Here he met the person who changed his life. Dronacharya Award winning coach Baldev Singh supported Rani and is equivalent to God for her. However, he was extremely strict when necessary. Rani Rampal had shared an instance where she was just 2 minutes late for practice and Singh asked her to pay a fine of Rs 200. This was a huge amount for Rani at that time, because her father earned only Rs 100 per day. Rani gave those 100 rupees to Singh and apologized. Singh returned the money at the end of the day with an extra Rs 100 and Rani was so impressed that she was never late for a practice session again.
At that time, times were so difficult for the family that they did not even have a proper watch. Rani’s mother used to wake up very early so that Rani could reach her practice sessions at 5 in the morning. Rani got the opportunity to win the watch as a prize in a handwriting competition in her school. Unfortunately his handwriting was not good, but he continued to practice and won a watch for his mother. His mother’s peaceful sleep was worth all the efforts.
In the year 2009, Rani Rampal participated in the Champions Challenge tournament held in Russia. She was the top scorer as well as the Young Player of the Tournament award winner. He played an important role in the team’s victory and scored 4 goals.
The silver medal at the 2009 Asia Cup was another exciting achievement for him.
Rani Rampal won the Best Young Player of the Tournament award at the 2010 World Cup. She was just 15 years old then and became the youngest player of the national team to participate in the World Cup. He scored 7 goals in the tournament.[
