Burman’s full name was ‘Rahul Dev Burman’ and in the film world he was famous as ‘Pancham Da’. He composed music for approximately 300 films during his career. R. D. Burman was born on June 27, 1939 in Calcutta, West Bengal. He received his early education from Ballygunge Government High School, Kolkata. Later he also learned sarod from Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. R. D. Burman was married to Asha Bhosle.
