Snehlata Shrivastava (English: Snehlata Shrivastava, born – 18 September 1957, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh) is the first woman Secretary General of the Lok Sabha. She was appointed the first woman Secretary General of the Lok Sabha of India on 1 December 2017. She replaced Anoop Mishra. Snehlata Shrivastava is a 1982 batch Indian Administrative Service officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. Prior to this, she has been the President of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of India.
Snehlata Srivastava is originally from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She was born on 18 September 1957 in Kanpur. Her father’s name is Rameshchandra Srivastava and mother’s name is Premlata Srivastava. She got married to Dr. Sanjay Srivastava on 19 November 1985. Snehlata Srivastava has a post graduate degree in Geography and M.Phil. degree in Regional Planning and Economic Growth from Barkatullah University Bhopal.
Snehlata Shrivastava was appointed as Under Secretary and Additional Collector Bhopal Gas Relief and Rehabilitation, Government of Madhya Pradesh as her first posting from 1985 to July 1988. After this, she has worked as Mandsaur Collector Aurla Magistrate, Deputy Secretary Home Department Madhya Pradesh, Deputy Secretary Energy Madhya Pradesh, Deputy Secretary Commerce and Industry Madhya Pradesh, Deputy Secretary/Additional Secretary/Director Finance (Budget) Finance Department Madhya Pradesh, Executive Director Mining Corporation Madhya Pradesh, Director (America, Canada and Exchange Control).[1]
Apart from this, Snehlata Srivastava has worked as Director Fund Bank Division, Director ADB and Infrastructure Department of Economic Affairs, Joint Secretary (Administration) Central Board of Direct Taxes – Department Ministry of Finance, Government of India, Chief Vigilance Officer Railways India Technical and Economic Service.
