Whenever it comes to Indian fast bowlers, Sreesanth’s name definitely comes. Sreesanth was born on this day on 6 February 1983 at Santkumaran Nair and Savitri Devi in Kerala. Sreesanth is celebrating his 41st birthday on 6 February. Sreesanth’s career was full of controversies. Apart from the slap controversy with Harbhajan Singh, his name was also involved in spot fixing.
Sreesanth’s performance has been fluctuating for Team India. But many occasions also came when his bowling won the hearts of people. His most memorable performance is Team India’s South Africa tour in 2006. On this tour, Sreesanth took five wickets for 40 runs in the Johannesburg Test and gave Team India the first Test victory at the Protiaz Maidan. The way Sreesanth dismissed Jacques Kallis from the bouncer in the Durban Test during this series, Indian fans still become happy.
In April 2008, Harbhajan and Sreesanth became happy when Bhajji slapped fast bowler Sreesanth after the match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. However, both of them then made a statement that they had resolved the matter. In a program, Harbhajan had said that whatever dispute with Sreesanth was, he had resolved the same night. Five years after the incident, Sreesanth said that Harbhajan did not slap him.
Sreesanth was arrested on charges of spot fixing in IPL 2013, when he was part of the Rajasthan Royals team. The BCCI then banned him for a lifetime. However, he continued to participate in List A and First Class matches. Sreesanth has so far taken more than 150 wickets in international matches for India.
