A family in Colti, Romania, used a stone to block their door for decades, but when they found out its real value, they were shocked. According to El Pais, this precious gem is worth about $1 million. In fact, a woman from the previous generation of the family found this stone at the bottom of a river nearby. She found the stone beautiful and unique, so she picked it up and brought it home, where it was placed near the door so that the door remains open.
After the woman’s death in 1991, the house was passed on to a relative who saw the stone and thought it could be valuable. He then took it to the Romanian state and sold it. Experts at the History Museum in Krakow confirmed that the amber was between 38 and 70 million years old.
Currently it is kept as an exhibit in the Provincial Museum of Bujau. Museum director Daniel Costache has confirmed this. Costache says that its value is incalculable. Experts believe that this 3.5 kg amber is one of the largest pieces in the world.
