Born on 23 January 1947, Ramesh Sippy started acting at the age of 9.
Ramesh Sippy, awarded the Padma Shri in 2013, met the film world for the first time at the age of just 6 on the sets of his father’s first film ‘Saaja’. At the age of 9, Ramesh Sippy got his first film work when he played the role of Achala Sachdev’s son in the 1953 film ‘Shahenshah’. He worked in both the production and direction departments on films like ‘Johar-Mehmood in Goa’ and ‘Mere Sanam’. Before becoming the director of ‘Andaz’ in 1971, he worked as an assistant for 7 years. But as soon as Ramesh Sippy entered the world of direction, he gave many memorable films to Bollywood.
Sholay (1975)
Perhaps the most iconic film of Bollywood, ‘Sholay’ featured actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Amjad Khan and Jaya Bachchan. Andaz (1971)

Shaan (1980)
