Story of martyr Sunil Mahat
Kargil Day matters a lot to those who have lost their loved ones. Seeing the album with his family members, Bina remembers how his son was targeted by enemy bullets in war. He said, “I get relaxed at this place because my son sacrificed his life here to honor the country. I have come here for the first time and want it to be the last time.”
Bina, who lives in Lucknow, lost her son Sunil Jung Mahat in the Kargil war. Sunil Mahat was a rifleman and made the highest sacrifice in the battlefield. In 1999, in the decisive war of Dras, even after twenty -five years after her son’s sacrifice, Bina came to receive consolation on the earth where her son was martyred. He said, “I will remember my son till the last breath. His memories will always harass me.” I am participating in Kargil Victory Day for the first time. God knows how my son lived here and how he fought with enemies. I do not know what this place would look like 25 years ago. When he fought the biggest battle with Pakistan, he was very young. “
