Politics News Desk!!! V. Vaithilingam (English: V. Vaithilingam, born October 5, 1950) was the sixth Chief Minister of Puducherry. He was associated with the political party Indian National Congress. V. Vaithilingam’s priorities as Chief Minister were to reduce the budget deficit, increase private sector participation in public transport, improve the health care system. He became the Chief Minister at the age of 41.
V. Vaithilingam served as the Chief Minister of Puducherry twice – from July 4, 1991 to May 13, 1996 and from September 4, 2008 to May 14, 2011. V. Vaithilingam represents the Kamaraj Nagar constituency in the assembly elections. He is credited as leading a stable and efficient government in the state of Puducherry during his tenure as Chief Minister. He was elected senior MLA for eight consecutive times. Interestingly also, his paternal grandfather Late Vaithilinga Reddyar was the mayor of Nettappakkam commune during the French rule in Puducherry and his father V. Venkatasubba Reddyar was also the Chief Minister of Puducherry. V. Vaithilingam possessed exceptional leadership skills since childhood, an example of which was his role as Chairman of the Land Development Bank of Puducherry State. In the year 2016, V. Vaithilingam became the speaker representing the Indian National Congress from Kamaraj Nagar. 2011 He was elected as MLA from Kamaraj Nagar representing Congress. Elected as MLA from Nettappakkam representing Congress in 1996, 2001 and again in 2006.
