Inspector General of Police of Pakistan’s Punjab province, Dr. Usman Anwar said that the police are investigating Tamba’s murder. FIR has been registered in the matter. According to the FIR, Junaid Sarfaraz told that he and his elder brother were present at the house in Tamba Sanant Nagar at the time of the incident. Tamba was born in 1979 in Lahore. Known as the ‘real Don of Lahore’, Tamba was involved in property dealing and drug smuggling.

Amir Sarfaraz Tamba, accused of the murder of Indian Sarabjit Singh, who was jailed in Pakistan, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Lahore on Sunday. Tamba, a close aide of Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed, was attacked by motorcycle-borne assailants in Lahore’s Islampura area. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he died.

Who was Sarabjit Singh?

Sarabjit Singh was a resident of Bhikhiwind village in Tarn Taran district on the India-Pakistan border. He was a farmer. Apart from his wife Sukhpreet Kaur, he had two daughters, Swapnadeep and Poonam Kaur. Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur continued to advocate for his release from 1991 until her death in 2013. On August 30, 1990, he unknowingly reached the Pakistani border, where he was arrested by the Pakistani Army. Sarabjit Singh was convicted for his alleged involvement in several bomb blasts in Pakistan in the 1990s. For this he was sentenced to death. However, Sarabjit Singh’s family in India says he was a victim of mistaken identity and unknowingly crossed the border into Pakistan.

What if I sing the song alone?

In 1991, a Pakistani court had sentenced Sarabjit Singh to death for four bomb blasts in Lahore and Faisalabad. About 10 people died in these blasts. However, many times Sarabjit Singh’s punishment was temporarily postponed. In March 2006, the Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected Sarabjit’s mercy petition and upheld his death sentence.

How was life?

On 26 April 2013, Tamba and other prisoners brutally attacked Sarabjit inside the high-security Kot Lakhpat jail. They were beaten with bricks and iron rods. After this he was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state. A few days later, on the morning of 2 May 2013, Sarabjit Singh (49) died of a heart attack at Jinnah Hospital in Lahore. He remained unconscious for about a week after the attack.
