Dayanand Shetty was born on 11 December 1969 in a village in Karnataka. After his initial studies, Dayanand did graduation in commerce. Dayanand never thought of acting as a career. He was fond of sports from the beginning. He was a shot put and discus throw player and excelled in it. He has been champion from Maharashtra in discus throw. But due to leg injury he had to stay away from the world of sports.

After staying away from the sports world, he entered the theater and commercial world. After this, in 1998 he auditioned for the TV show ‘CID’ and was selected. He did not think that this would prove to be the turning point of his career. He was given the role of ‘Inspector Daya’ in the show. Based on his personality, the character of ‘Inspector Daya’ became very popular and he became known in every household. The show’s dialogues ‘Daya kuch toh gadal hai’ and ‘Jab daya ka haath pakaata hai to madam ke aandar dantan se piano bajne lagte hain’ were also quite hits.

Apart from TV, Dayanand also showed his talent in films. He did films like ‘Johnny Gaddaar’, ‘Runaway’, ‘Singham Returns’. Now soon Dayanand will be seen in the role of Inspector in the film ‘Govinda Naam Mera’. Vicky Kaushal is in the lead role in the film.
