On the Guru-teacher day of Rama and Krishna, know who shaped the education of both incarnations. On Teachers’ Day, when the Guru is bowed across the country, the story of Rama and Krishna becomes the biggest example in itself. The Guru’s place in the life of both incarnations was so high that education cannot be completed without them.
Guru Maharishi Vasistha who taught Lord Rama was. He was the Rajguru of Ayodhya and taught the four brothers Ram-Laxman, Bharata and Shatrughna of Vedas, Shastra, Dhanurveda and religion. Maharishi Vasistha had told Rama that the king is governed not only by power, but also with religion. Each of his education became the foundation of Ram’s ideal character.
On the other hand, Krishna’s guru Maharishi was Sandipan. Krishna educated Balaram and Sudama at Sandipan Ashram. Here he gained knowledge of Vedas, scriptures, weapons and politics. The importance of Maharishi Sandeepan increases even more because Krishna brought his dead son back from the sea as Gurudakshina and gave him a life. This incident gives the message that a true disciple can go to any extent for his guru.
In the tradition of Hinduism, the place of Guru is said to be higher than God. Because the Guru only gives such vision to the disciple that he can understand the real purpose of life. This is the reason that his gurus also laid the foundation of the life of two great incarnations of Lord Vishnu, Rama and Krishna. Maharishi Vishwamitra made Rama Maryada Purushottam and Maharishi Sandipanya gave Krishna the knowledge of Yogeshwar. On Teachers’ Day, let’s know the amazing story of these two divine gurus.
Vishwamitra: Who made Rama Maryada Purushottam
When Maharishi Vishwamitra took him with him, the life of Rajkumar Ram of Ayodhya got a new direction. It was from here that the education started which raised Rama above the avatar and made him Maryada Purushottam. Vishwamitra gave him the highest education of archery, weapons and war. Slaughtering Tadka, he taught Rama that drastic steps have to be taken to protect religion. Breaking Shiva’s bow in Janakpur and winning Sita Swayamvar was also the result of Guru’s education. Vishwamitra explained to Rama that pride is the biggest weapon for social welfare. This is the reason that even today Rama is called Maryada Purushottam.
Sandipani: Who made Krishna Yogeshwar
When the prince of Dwarka reached the ashram of Krishna Maharishi Sandipani, there was no special arrangement for him. He received penance, discipline and education like other disciples. Krishna received intensive education of Vedas, Upanishads, scriptures and battle. He understood the importance of religion and policy in the ashram itself. Sandipani taught him that the establishment of truth and destruction of unrighteousness is true religion. This education gave him the ability to become the preacher of the Gita and the charioteer of Arjun. This is the reason that he was not only a warrior in the Mahabharata war, but he was called Yogeshwar.
Two ideals made from the teachings of gurus
Rama renounced and followed dignity throughout his life.
Krishna showed the path of policy and religion throughout his life.
But the basis of the greatness of both was the teachings of their gurus. This tradition gives a message to Hinduism that Guru not only gives knowledge, but also determines the direction of life and character. Therefore, in Hinduism it is believed that Guru is the power that makes an ordinary man the ultimate man and yogeshwar.
