Born on 16 November 1963 in Ghanbad, Meenakshi has said goodbye to Hindi cinema long ago, but in the 80s and 90s, the actress gave a hit film. Meenakshi, who was a dancer in dance forms like Kathak and Bharatnatyam since childhood, won the title of Miss India in 1981 at the age of 17. Meenakshi started receiving offers from films only after winning Beauty Kisan. Amidst the constant offers, Meenakshi chose the film ‘Painter Babu’ for her Bollywood debut. The film failed to leave a mark.
Meenakshi, who rose to fame with her first film, got recognition among the people in her second film ‘Hero’. In 1983, ‘Hero’ made by Subhash Ghai made him a heartthrob. In this film, she was cast opposite Jackie Shroff, the pair was a tremendous hit. From the songs of this film to the chemistry between the two, everything was well received.
