IPL Nepal Betting: Police arrested 11 Indian citizens from Kathmandu for online betting in IPL Games released in India. In the investigation, online betting worth Rs 200 crore has been revealed from here.
11 Rajasthani youths were caught in a raid late night
Central Research Bureau (CIB) spokesman SP Sudhir Raj Shahi told media persons on Thursday that the live betting of IPL Games was reported late Wednesday night. Based on this, 11 Indians were arrested after raiding a rented house in Budhanalakanth area of Kathmandu. All the youths arrested are residents of Rajasthan and are between 19 and 28 years old.
Names of arrested accused and recovered goods
Those arrested include Sunny Meena (24), Mohit Verma (25), Piyush Bhardwaj (26), Harkesh Dadia (25), Nishant Bhardwaj (22), Akash Verma (23), Ankit Kumar Saini (19), Sanju Shukla (23), Ram Singh Jat (28), Lokesh Kumar (19) and Vikas Kumar (19). During the raid, the CIB has recovered 34 mobile phones, five laptops, four accounts of accounts, 14 checkbooks of various banks in India, 27 ATM cards and 40 Indian SIM cards.
Use of social media app in betting
The spokesman said apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, Insta Chat, We-Chat and Signal were being used for betting. According to CIB, the mastermind of this network is operating from Nepal and a third country outside India. No accused caught has met him nor does anyone recognize him.
