Police received information about the incident at 9.47 pm (local time) on Monday night.
Police caught the attacker
According to state news agency Xinhua, the 37-year-old attacker’s name is Lin. He kept attacking people with a knife in a crowded area. He was caught as soon as the police reached the spot. Pictures of a man armed with a knife in a supermarket have surfaced on social media platforms.
The attacker was struggling with personal financial disputes
Police said the attacker, Lin, was struggling with personal financial disputes. Went to Shanghai to vent out my anger. Lin’s origin has not been disclosed by police. It is illegal for most citizens in China to own a personal pistol or handgun.
2 died in a stabbing incident in May
In the last few years, incidents of large-scale knife attacks in public places have increased in China. Many of these attackers were mentally disturbed. In May, two people were killed in a knife attack at a hospital in China’s Yunnan province. 21 people were injured in this attack.
In August last year, a man suffering from mental illness stabbed two people to death in a district in Yunnan. 7 people were injured in this attack.
